Six more weeks of winter

Groundhog Day was Tuesday and Punxsutawney Phil is predicting six more weeks of winter. Bundle up, I hear more of the wintry mix is on its way by the end of the week.

Guest speaker

Citizens for Protection of Washington County will meet today at the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway at 7 p.m. The fire station is at 11114 Lincoln Ave. in Halfway.

Guest speaker Rich Dayhoff will talk about his personal experience of how he and his family have lived in a home totally dependent on renewable energy.

The event is open to the public.

Little League signups

Registration for Halfway Little League will be held at the Nike outlet store at Prime Outlets on Thursday, Feb. 11, and Friday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Reminder

Parents of Washington County Public Schools students: Schools will be closed Monday, Feb. 15 for Presidents Day.

'Music Man'

The Williamsport High School Fine Arts Department will present "The Music Man" Friday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 13, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.

The performances will combine the talents of the chorus, drama and band. The event will feature sophomores Brandon Draper and Irene Cunningham in lead roles.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased by calling 301-766-8433.
