Lego building club forming at library

The Hancock Library is sponsoring a Lego building club on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m.

The library is seeking donations of Legos of any size or shape, so clean out that toy box and drop the Legos off during regular hours.

Winter festival set for Feb. 13

The annual Hancock Winter Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13. It's time to begin thinking about a snow sculpture team, a theme for your sculpture, a creative winter hat and put the date on your calendar.

As always, there will be plenty of food and fun and - who knows - maybe plenty of snow this year.

Health Olympics had successful year

The results of the 2009 Health Olympics are in. One-hundred-forty-five participants took part and about 76 completed the challenge. The average weight loss was 2.4 pounds and the greatest weight loss was 25 pounds.

Dr. Matt Hahn, event organizer, was extremely pleased with the results. Several participants won prizes of a membership to a local fitness club while others won prizes donated by local businesses.

Hahn looks forward to the next Health Olympics maybe this summer or again next fall.

Hancock Little League to hold registration

A sure sign of spring: Notice has been posted of Hancock Little League registration for Thursday and Friday, Feb. 11 and 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hancock Community Center.

Each participant is required to bring one proof of age document, plus three or more documents showing the address and legal residence of the parents or guardians. For more information, call 240-527-9129.

A mandatory meeting for Little League managers takes place Sunday at 6 p.m. in the community center.

New gym opens in town

There's a new gym in town. M&A Training facility has opened on Main Street and features 24/7 hours with keyless entry.

It will host an open house every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at 53 W. Main St. Check out the free weights, machines and mixed martial arts room. Personal training programs are also available.
